TVS JIVE (firt India motor cycle to have automatic transmission) REVIEW

TVS India is going to launch its gearless bikes 'Jive' after the success of Apache RTR 180, Flame SR125 and Flame DS125. Jive is the firt motorcycle to have automatic transmission. Jive comes with with 4-speed auto transmission with handfree gearshift.

Jive is powered by a new 110cc engine the same engine that powers the TVS Wego, that generates maximum power of 8.1 Bhp at 7500 rpm with 8.1 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. TVS Jive's On-Road price will be around 46,500 rupees.

As TVS Jive weigh only 110 Kgs makes it is convenient to handle. It has a wheelbase of 1260 mm and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres with two litres as reserve.

TVS Jive has no clutch lever so it can be ridden by almost anyone who has a sense of balance as there is no need for manual clutch-gear co-ordination while shifting. It also has a anti-stall mechanism which makes smooth riding possible at low speeds even in high gears, It is also not necessary that the bike has to be in neutral while starting. The bike can be started in any gear and is fitted with an electric start. TVS Jive is available in 3 shades - Blue, Black and Red. It is available in 2 variants - Kick Start and Self Start.

Internal sources reveal the Apache 220 to be more powerful with the bigger 220cc mill producing close to 22bhp.This upcoming TVS motorcycle is expected to be launched in April, 2010.The bike will also get full faring along with a segment first – ABS. The bike will be ideal for power segment at a price tag of Rs95000, though higher than the same range of bikes in the market.


But TVS assures better quality and performance. Apache RTR 220 might be the first TVS to come with full fairing. It might also feature ABS setting a new safety standard for performance bikes.
