The design of the Malibu was inspired by more expensive European models.Available safety features on all Malibus include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. The Malibu is available in four different trim levels: LS, LT, and LTZ. Base model cars are powered by a 169 horsepower 2.4L VVT four-cylinder engine -- mated to a four-speed automatic transmission -- with the LTZ trim level using a 3.6L V6 -- rated at 252 horsepower -- mated to a six-speed auto with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
